Rasmus Hojlund was left out of Manchester United’s opening match of the season, as clubs across Italy continue to show interest in the striker.
The Dane started pre-season as United’s first-choice striker, but the situation has changed considerably since then.
The arrival of Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig has pushed Hojlund further down the pecking order.
That means he could see very little playing time unless a transfer happens before the window closes.
Clubs like AC Milan and Napoli have been linked with him this summer after his impressive stint at Atalanta.
However, Hojlund is unsure about leaving Old Trafford, and his future remains unclear as negotiations continue.
Hojlund has scored 26 goals for United since arriving, including 10 across all competitions last season.
Now, with Sesko as the first choice, it would be difficult to increase this number with fewer minutes, but the Danish striker does not rule out the possibility.
Amorim praised the striker’s professionalism when asked how he handled being left out of the squad that lost to Arsenal last weekend.
“Like a professional player. We need to see. Let’s wait and see when the market closes and then everything will be clear.”
United face Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday, and it remains unclear whether Hojlund will feature in that match.
This morning, he was back in training with his teammates at Carrington as they prepared for the trip to west London.
Manchester United aim to offload Antony, Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, and Tyrell Malacia this summer as they are no longer in the team’s plans.
Amorim has made it clear that he is not handling those departures directly. That job falls to football director Jason Wilcox, whom he speaks with regularly.
“You have to talk with Jason [Wilcox]. We have a department that is responsible for that part. I’m just focused on Sunday’s game. We talk every day. We talk about all the situations.”
He added: “It’s not an idea that these guys are going to leave, to play in a different club and then we’ll receive another player.
“We don’t know what is going to happen, but we’re not waiting to take out someone to get another. I think the players you are talking about are not with this group at this moment.”
