Over the last week, Penn State Football has been able to land two 2026 commitments.

On Friday, Defensive Lineman Alex Haskell announced his intentions to become a Nittany Lion. In addition to Haskell, Monday evening, Wide Receiver Davion Brown announced his commitment to Penn State.

Both of these prospects are huge pickups for Penn State Football.

Haskell was near, if not at the top of the Defensive Line board. Additionally, Brown was a highly recruited guy who was a major target at Wide Receiver for Penn State.

Here are where Haskell and Brown rank amongst Penn State Football Recruits.

Haskell and Brown Boost Penn State Ranking

As things stand, Penn State holds 17 commitments in the class of 2026.

Those 17 commitments make the Nittany Lions good for fourth in the nation, according to 247 Sports Composite Team Rankings. The teams ahead of Penn State are USC, Notre Dame, and Ohio State, three teams that Penn State played in 2024.

According to the same 247 Sports Composite Rankings, Davion Brown fits in as Penn State’s third-best commit. He trails Kevin Brown and Messiah Mickens. Again, this is just rankings, they can be wrong. Brown is a 4-star Composite player. He ranks as the 29th best Receiver in the nation and the 6th best player in Virginia.

Haskell, on the other hand, is more of an under-ranked guy. He did not get out to many camps, showcases, or things like that, but many I talk to say he is extremely underrated. Haskell was very high on Penn State’s board, and if there is one thing to know, Penn State’s staff can evaluate talent. Haskell is a composite 3-star, good for 27th best in the state of Pennsylvania.

Don’t let the rankings fool you, though, the kid can play.

What to Look for This Weekend

This weekend marks the beginning of a very busy official visit season. Additionally, Elite11 comes to State College on Sunday. Both Peyton Falzone and Troy Huhn are expected to throw there.

The headliners of this week however, are Joey O’Brien and Khary Adams.

Adams was able to move some dates around and get to State College this weekend.

This is huge for Penn State.

Adams and O’Brien are former 7-on-7 teammates and good friends. Penn State has been wanting to get them on campus together for a long time and this is a huge win for them. As of right now, I don’t anticipate either pulling the trigger, however, Penn State can make a big impact on both Adams and O’Brien.

Other visitors slated to come to town over the weekend are Cincere Johnson, Dorian Barney, Izayia Williams, and more.

For Penn State, Johnson is a big recruit, however, it looks like it will be a tough battle to pry him away from Ohio State. Barney is a guy who Penn State could take, and Williams has had a very … interesting recruitment to say the least.

Overall, this weekend is a big one for Penn State. With two of their top defensive targets making it to campus, this weekend could go a long way for the Nittany Lions.
