'Wherever they go'- Tottenham ‘run the risk’ of overpaying for new attacker following Eze snub

Time is running out for Tottenham as the club looks to find a new attacker before the transfer market shuts shop

As we approach the last four days before the transfer market shuts shop, Tottenham are still looking to bring in new players for this season. The lack of planning by the Lilywhites has made the fans question the direction the club is heading towards under Daniel Levy. And one cannot blame any Spurs fans for thinking that the North London club might just end up panic-buying now on deadline day.

With only a handful of days remaining before the transfer window closes, Spurs will find it hard to land their intended targets. The Lilywhites have already made a public mess of themselves in the summer after getting rejected by Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze in broad daylight, despite agreeing personal terms with him. The England international preferred to move to Arsenal instead after the Gunners tabled in a bid for his services at the eleventh-hour.

And now, the North London club is trying to sort itself out by bringing in other alternatives that could fill the void left behind by Heung-Min Son and James Maddison. Now that everyone knows Spurs have the money to spend big after seeing their bid for Eze never come into fruition, the Lilywhites run the risk of overpaying for players before the window shuts shop.

Tottenham need to act smart during the last few days of the transfer window

The mood around N17 is not at its worst due to the brilliant start to the Premier League season under Thomas Frank. However, things can quickly change at the club if Daniel Levy fails to bring in new players before the transfer window closes. The Lilywhites cannot afford to compete hard on all four fronts this season without enough depth in every position.

Now, Paul Robinson has weighed in on Spurs’ transfer stance as we approach the deadline day. Speaking to Tottenham News, Robinson said,

“I think Tottenham are at the risk of overpaying anyway, because of the stage of the transfer window they’re at. It’s been quite well documented that they were chasing Eze, and it’s no secret that Tottenham are looking for that type of player.”

The ex-Spurs player added,

“So, wherever they go, they’re running the risk of paying a tax because everybody knows that they’re in the market for that type of player.”

Paul Robinson admits that Tottenham run a big risk of overpaying for their intended targets as we approach the deadline day. The ex-player suggests that every other club knows that the Lilywhites are looking for an ‘Eze’ alternative in the market and the club has enough cash to spend big. Robinson also believes that Spurs run the risk of overpaying now as every club will charge a premium in the last few days of the transfer window.

With time running out in the transfer market, Daniel Levy must look to go all-in and bring in a quality player for Thomas Frank. The Lilywhites are looking to build on the Europa League success this season under the Danish tactician. And that will only be possible if the North London club acts fast and signs new players before it is too late.
