Jake Paul believes Francis Ngannou is avoiding a potential fight with him, suggesting the former UFC champion fears a similar outcome to his knockout loss against Anthony Joshua.
The YouTuber-turned-boxer has continued to target high-profile opponents as he builds his résumé in the ring.
Ngannou has now become the latest name in his sights.
Jake Paul made the claim when discussing potential opponents, directly criticising Francis Ngannou’s boxing ability.
“There’s a long list of opponents. I think most recently, Francis Ngannou was talking a lot of smack. I think that’s an easy fight for me. I think he’s a terrible boxer,” Paul said.
The comments represent a clear escalation, with Paul positioning himself as a favorite in a potential matchup.
It also reflects his continued strategy of targeting crossover fights against established combat sports figures.
Jake Paul went further by referencing Francis Ngannou’s knockout defeat to Anthony Joshua as a reason the fight may not happen.
“I may be want to go back to heavyweight and knock him like [Anthony] Joshua did, render him unconscious. He knows I lasted longer than him against Joshua, didn’t get put out,” Paul continued.
He concluded, stating: “I think he may be wouldn’t do the fight because deep down he wouldn’t want to get embarrassed.”
The comparison centres on Ngannou’s high-profile loss, which remains a defining moment in his boxing run. Paul used that result to question both Ngannou’s durability and willingness to take another major risk.
For now, the fight remains hypothetical, but the comments have added another layer to ongoing discussions around potential crossover bouts.
