The WVU football staff now knows when it will hear one way or the other from a highly coveted defensive line recruit. Amir Leonard-Jean Charles, a class of 2025 prospect out of Tennessee, revealed his commitment date as part of a social media post on Tuesday.

Charles, listed at 6-foot-4 and 305 pounds, will announce this decision on June 19 at pm CT. He decided to drop this news on the heels of his official visit to West Virginia last weekend.

The Lipscomb Academy product from Mount Juliet, Tenn. in the Nashville area is classified as a three-star by most national recruiting outlets, but does carry a four-star rating from Rivals. Charles is ranked within the top 30 Tennessee players by most outlets while Rivals has him at No. 14.

WVU has been pursuing Charles for well over a year. Kentucky, Michigan, Texas and Tennessee have been projected to be his top choices, per On3 Sports. However, Charles tells WV Sports Now that his final decision is coming down to WVU, Florida and Syracuse.

West Virginia’s pursuit of Charles is not random by any means. Beyond his talent, Charles’ mother is a WVU alum and was a Mountaineer athlete herself as a member of the swim team during her college days.

Charles visited Morgantown frequently throughout the past year.

Charles currently holds offers from major programs like Auburn, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Louisville, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, Ole Miss, Purdue and Tennessee.
