Wisconsin Badgers Developing Close Relationship With 2027 Offensive Tackle
Wisconsin Badgers Developing Close Relationship With 2027 Offensive Tackle 3 Wisconsin offensive line coach AJ Blazek works with J.P. Benzschawel during the team’s 10th spring practice, which was held on a practice field north of Camp Randall Stadium in Madison, Wisconsin on Saturday April 20, 2024.

The Wisconsin Badgers staff recently dove head-first into the 2027 class by extending scholarship offers and working to develop relationships.

Among the players who have been at the forefront of the early recruiting assault for the Badgers is Mason Halliman, a 2027 offensive tackle. Halliman is a 6-foot-5-inch, 280-pound monster along the offensive line with a great combination of strength and agility.

Wisconsin offered Halliman a scholarship in May and have since been speaking with the recruit non-stop. Halliman recently sat down with 247 Sports  and mentioned that Wisconsin Badgers coach AJ Blazek has been one of the most consistent coaches thus far in terms of communication. Halliman also noted that Kansas State has been a very active program thus far after offering a scholarship in May also.

The offensive tackle is a dominant player on the field, but still needs time and exposure before fully reaching the peak of his recruiting process. Illinois, Nebraska, Arizona State, Iowa, and Iowa State have also offered the recruit a scholarship early after camp visits.

For the Wisconsin Badgers, developing early relationships with recruits who the staff deems scheme fits will be crucial. Many recruits who have been ranked for months in the 2027 class are already beginning to eliminate programs and move forward with the process.

For Halliman, the unranked recruit already holds a handful of scholarship offers but will likely hit another burst before the end of the summer.

Halliman is still relatively unknown but many other players such as Indiana, Michigan State, and Minnesota have begun to speak to the recruit. Wisconsin needs to continue to maintain a close relationship with Halliman moving forward before other offers and visits move the recruit close to a decision.

The Wisconsin Badgers love what Halliman can offer on the field between his size, agility, strength, and mentality. The offensive lineman is an all-around fit for the program, but someone who could quickly fall out of reach for the program once more exposure is gained. Coach Blazek is one of the top offensive line recruiters in the country and the willingness to push hard early speaks volumes in regards to what the Badgers think of Halliman.
