After previously earning a scholarship from the Wisconsin Badgers, one recruit may still have to prove himself on the field before reaching college.

Keysan Taylor, a rising defensive lineman within the 2027 recruiting class, recently earned a scholarship from the Badgers after camping with the program. Taylor got off to a slow start in high school, but took major steps forward last season as a sophomore.

Taylor currently holds two scholarship offers from Wisconsin and Iowa but could find himself in the midst of an offer spree during the upcoming season. Thus far, only programs who have met with Taylor in person have offered a scholarship as the defensive lineman is still working on developing more tape for coaches.

During the upcoming season, Taylor needs to make some noise in order to continue the recruiting run the prospect has been on. Many other programs in the region have expressed interest in the young defender but do not yet feel fully confident in what Taylor can offer on the field. Another successful season could not only silence the doubting scouts but also propel the recruit into a ranking.

Wisconsin Badgers to Keep Close Eye on 2027 Defensive Lineman Keysan Taylor

While the season is big for Taylor, the season will also be massive for the Wisconsin Badgers, Iowa Hawkeyes, and other teams monitoring the defensive lineman. Wisconsin should be a program that will continue to keep a close eye on Taylor after extending a scholarship offer. Should Taylor perform well moving forward, then the Badgers will likely look to quickly secure a visit with the recruit.

On the field, Taylor can be a force to be reckoned with as the defender combines great size with exceptional speed at his position. At 6-foot-4-inches, and roughly 230-pounds, the defenders packs a punch in every hit delivered and most of the hits have occurred in the backfield.

While Taylor has not put everything together quite yet on the field, the defensive lineman has a great feel for the game and a deep understanding of his position. Taylor improved on the field greatly last season and now aims put all of the knowledge learned across skills camps to the test.

Recruiting the defensive line has slowly become an issue for Wisconsin who needs plenty of bodies and talent, but the necessary space is not quite there. The Badgers held three defensive line commitments in the 2026 class momentarily but lost a commitment to a flip and now have been left without any available targets.

The 2027 recruiting class will be a pivotal one for the Badgers defensive line as more talent is needed in the room. Wisconsin has struggled to create pressure upfront recently on the field, which places more pressure on the staff to secure top talent within the 2027 class.
