The Wisconsin Badgers basketball staff has booked an unofficial visit with the top ranked in-state recruit within the 2027 class.

Donovan Davis, the current best player in Wisconsin in the 2027 class, is both an experienced and athletic forward who stands tall at 6-foot-7-inches, and roughly 200-pounds. Davis earned his first scholarship over a year ago from the Wisconsin Badgers and has since earned offers from Iowa State (extended in 2024), Marquette, California, Iowa, and Syracuse.

The recruiting process has been interesting for Davis thus far as an initial wave of offers has led to close relationships with key schools. However, as a top recruit in the country, Davis is surely going to see another wave of offers which could change everything for the forward. The upcoming scholastic season will be a big one for Davis as the recruit could propel himself farther up the rankings with another impressive season on the court.

Wisconsin Badgers Secure September 20th Visit With Top In-State Target Donovan Davis

Currently, Davis has four unofficial visits scheduled next month with his first stop on September 4th being Iowa. Davis will then visit Nebraska on September 5th and Iowa State on September 6th before finishing his current schedule with a visit to Wisconsin on September 20th. Nebraska has not officially extended a scholarship to the forward yet, but likely will do so during his visit.

Davis is considered to be one of the top players in the 2027 recruiting class early on and the Badgers are determined to keep the forward home. This past season with Freedom High School, the forward averaged 22.7 points, 12 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 2.8 steals per game. Davis first appeared as the 50th overall recruit in the class in June and has since jumped three spots due to his summer performances with Team Herro on the EYBL circuit.

For the Wisconsin Badgers, keeping close contact with Davis leading up to and following the visit is going to be key to landing a potential commitment. Davis is already starting to see his recruitment pickup a bit and will see another boost in the near future when other programs begin to see his film. Currently, Davis is the 47th overall recruit in the 2027 class with just six scholarship offers, which is a figure that will certainly not stand in the future.

The Wisconsin football team is set to play at home against Maryland in a stripe out game on September 20th. Davis will likely be around some of the top basketball and football recruits during his unofficial visit as the Badgers aim to turn the game into a valuable afternoon on the recruiting front.
