Wisconsin Badgers' Mimi Colyer reaches 1.5K milestone during loss to Texas 1 Wisconsin outside hitter Mimi Colyer (15) hits against Marquette in a spring match Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at the UW Field House in Madison, Wisconsin.

Wisconsin Badgers outside hitter Mimi Colyer is expected to lead the team in kills this season as she steps into a key role after transferring from Oregon. She made an immediate impact in her debut on Friday, racking up 26 kills and helping the Badgers take down her former coach in a five-set thriller. Just two days later, in a three-set loss to Texas, Colyer reached a major milestone by recording her 1,500th career kill.

Mimi Colyer reached 1,500 kills during the Wisconsin Badgers loss to Texas

Over three seasons at Oregon, Mimi Colyer totaled 1,461 kills, with her standout year coming as a freshman in 2022 when she tallied 533. She followed that up with 471 and 457 kills in the next two seasons. It took her just two matches at Wisconsin to notch 40 more kills and hit the significant 1,500 career mark, a testament to her consistency and immediate impact.

Given her track record, including a 500+ kill season, it’s entirely realistic to believe Mimi Colyer could reach the 2,000 career kill mark in her final year of collegiate eligibility. Now serving as Wisconsin’s primary outside hitter, she’ll have plenty of opportunities to pile up stats and play a leading role in the Badgers’ offense.

The Badgers showed grit in a tightly contested first set—rallying for four straight points to force extra play and even earning a chance to close it out—but ultimately came up short.

From there, Texas seized the momentum, and Wisconsin struggled to regain control. Transfer Grace Egan was a bright spot in the loss, leading the team with 16 kills.

Thursday, September 4 is when the Badgers Volleyball team will be in action next, taking on UC Davis at the Fieldhouse.
