After plenty of anticipation, the Wisconsin basketball staff has landed a top transfer target to round out the roster for the upcoming season.

Elijah Gray , a former two-star Fordham commitment in the 2022 recruiting class, most recently played for Temple this past season. The forward spent two seasons with Fordham and started nine games for the team before announcing a transfer to Temple. Gray has steadily improved throughout his collegiate career and could put together his best season to date with the Wisconsin Badgers.

Gray is a dynamic forward who could fit into the Wisconsin basketball team without many hiccups or troubles along the way. The forward averaged nine points and 3.8 rebounds while shooting 48.1% from the floor last season. The recruit transferred to Temple in hopes of finding more playing time, but now will transfer again after dealing with injuries and struggling to secure a consistent amount of playing time.

What Does Elijah Gray Offer the Wisconsin Basketball Team?

The forward does the majority of his work at the rim, shooting 57% in the paint last season while taking 55% of his total shots from the same area. Gray does not just drive either, but rather is an all-around scorer down low with a beautiful tip-in shot as well. Gray is a crafty and agile finisher that can attack the rim at all sorts of angles which makes defending the forward difficult.

Gray is also an experienced shooter from beyond the arc, nailing 30.4% of his long-range shots last season. The forward is comfortable shooting from anywhere outside and displays a great catch-and-shoot ability this past season with Temple.

Perhaps one of the more intriguing and unique aspects of the game of Gray is his ability to create offensive opportunities in roll and pop plays. Gray averaged a point per possession 23% of time last season and showcased an ability to finish at the rim. On top of his ability to roll and pop, Gray also has a great touch when shooting the basketball which creates a difficult shot for defenders to fully contest.

On the defensive side of play, Gray is not known for his defense by any means but the forward is still capable of making a big stop when needed. The athleticism of Gray allows for big-time blocks and gives the forward a chance to contest shots even when out of position.

For the Wisconsin basketball staff, Gray is an excellent player to round out the roster due to the ability the forward possesses. Gray is a dynamic player on offense and a capable and athletic defender as well, which could make for a blossoming player on the Wisconsin basketball roster.
