The Wisconsin football staff has put plenty of time and effort into expanding specific pipelines this cycle and Georgia has been one such place.
Georgia has predominantly been an SEC-rich state where players rarely attend other conferences, however, Wisconsin has been looking to change that with some recruits. Among the recruits is 2026 four-star safety Jowell Combay, one of the top safeties in the class and a Marietta native.
Combay is from the heart of Georgia and currently holds 33 scholarship offers with official visits booked with Missouri, South Carolina, Wisconsin, and Tennessee. The Badgers have held strong thus far in the recruitment of Combay after hosting the recruit twice this year already for unofficial visits. The safety has spent more time with Wisconsin than any other school within the final list of programs which bodes well for the Badgers chances at landing a big commitment within the 2026 class.

The talented safety had a visit booked with Missouri during the spring but unfortunately had to cancel last minute. Combay finally had a chance to see the campus for an official visit last week and spoke on how he feels he could “see himself around these guys for three or four years” following the visit.
While four-star running back Amari Latimer has been the main talk regarding the recruitment of the state of Georgia and the 2026 class, Combay is an under-the-radar recruit who has not been talked about quite as much. The safety is still a potential game-changer for the right program and could fit into the Wisconsin defense nicely.
Wisconsin currently seems like the leader for Latimer, who is on campus for a surprise unofficial visit with the staff. However, Wisconsin might be slowing losing the battle for Combay who seems primed to play in the SEC moving forward.
Combay visited Tennessee unofficially and instantly booked an official visit, which happens to be his final official visit. As mentioned, Missouri has also been a major player and could be the program that eventually secures a commitment from Combay.
For the Wisconsin football staff moving forward, landing a commitment from Combay will likely involve focusing on the relationships built. As mentioned, the Wisconsin football staff has spent the most time with Combay this year.
