The Wisconsin football staff delivered delayed, but exceptional news this afternoon when four-star recruit Jayden Petit committed to the school.
Petit, a 2026 four-star receiver from Florida, announced his commitment to the Wisconsin football program in a shocking move. The recruit is now the top-ranked member of the 2026 Wisconsin recruiting class and the third receiver the staff has landed in the cycle. The wide receiver drew extremely close to the staff after spending time on campus both officially and unofficially, which led to the commitment.
Another recruit in the 2026 cycle who has spent a significant amount of time both on campus and with the staff recently is three-star running back Amari Latimer. The talented Sandy Creek, Georgia native is currently considered to be the top remaining recruit on the board for the Wisconsin football staff with Petit now officially committed to the program. Latimer is by all accounts considered to be one of the most underrated recruits in the 2026 class and the recruit has become a majority priority for the staff.
While the Wisconsin football staff has plenty of other recruits who are nearing commitment decisions, none of them quite hold the same value that Latimer would.
The Georgia native is one of the more heavily recruited athletes in the 2026 class, with 47 scholarships in hand and major programs in contact. The running back holds offers from nearly the entire SEC and has become one of the more well known names to fans as well.
On the field, Latimer has been nothing but spectacular which is a big reason why the running back has received so much attention. The running back possesses a rare combination of speed and strength that makes stopping the athlete an extremely difficult task. Once Latimer has a head of steam, no single player at the high school level can stop the recruit.
Many programs including the Wisconsin football program believe the recruit will be a game-changer on the field at the collegiate level.
