Wisconsin Football Lands Commitment from Former FCS All-American DL
USA TODAY Sports

Wisconsin football is keeping the momentum rolling in the transfer portal, as former UT Martin defensive lineman Charles Perkins announced his commitment to UW.

Perkins is the third transfer to announce their commitment today, joining former Western Michigan defensive lineman Corey Walker and former San Diego QB Danny O'Neill.

Perkins entered the transfer portal after three seasons with UT Martin. In 2023, Perkins received FCS Freshman All-American honors and was named to Phil Steele's FCS Freshman All-American Second Team after recording 24 tackles, 4.0 TFLs, and four sacks.

As a redshirt sophomore this year, the 6-foot-3, 300-pound defensive lineman recorded 40 tackles, 9.0 TFLs, 2.5 sacks, eight QB hurries, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery.

Wisconsin is in the midst of a defensive line revamp headed by E.J. Whitlow, and Perkins is another addition who has proven his productivity in the trenches. Perkins is now the third defensive line addition via the transfer portal for UW, joining Corey Walker and former Tulane defensive lineman Parker Petersen.

With Perkins' pledge, the Badgers have added six players through the transfer portal, as the UT Martin transfer joins Danny O'Neill, Corey Walker, Parker Petersen, Tanner Koziol, and Mason Reiger.
