UW was the second school to offer Catalano, and he was Wisconsin's second in-state prospect to give their pledge at the time of his commitment in November 2023. The Germantown High School standout chose the Badgers over offers from Minnesota, Illinois, Kansas, Iowa State, and Michigan State.
In his senior season, Catalano received the John Anderson Award, which is given to the state's top senior linebacker. He also shattered the state's all-time tackles record after logging his 463rd career tackle in week seven of his senior year. Catalano recorded at least 120 tackles per season during his high school career.
The 6-foot-2, 200-pound linebacker always finds ways to get involved on the field. He's a high-motor, high-intensity player with solid tackling technique and a ton of physicality. Catalano also shows a knack for shedding blocks, as he can bend and use leverage to get blockers to disengage, and he will be right there to stop the play in its tracks. Catalano projects as a high-floor linebacker who could get himself in the mix after he takes some time to develop in the college ranks.
