The Wisconsin football program is now considered to be the favorites to land a top running back in the 2026 class.
Amari Latimer, a four-star running back from Georgia, has quickly become a priority recruit for the Wisconsin staff. Latimer is an accomplished athlete who currently holds 47 scholarship offers as nearly every coach in the country loves what they see. The running back has been closely tied to Michigan, Texas, and Georgia, but Wisconsin has rose on the board after hosting Latimer for an official visit this past weekend.
Wisconsin has picked up three different predictions to land Latimer since the recruit has visited campus officially. The Badgers landing Latimer would be a massive recruiting win not just because of the skill of Latimer, but also due to the fact that Wisconsin would need to stand with big programs to land a commitment.
The Wisconsin football team could be on the cusp of landing Latimer over some notorious programs, and that could be just the win the staff truly needs.
While the Wisconsin staff has landed plenty of recruits over the past few days and months, Latimer is a cut above many of the other talents who have come in contact with the program. The running back holds nearly 50 scholarships and has maintained contact with much of his list throughout his recruitment. Snagging a commitment from Latimer is not just about acquiring talented but also about proving that Wisconsin is a recruiting school moving forward.

Texas has emerged as the primary opponent for Wisconsin in the recruitment of Latimer, which is certainly a tough matchup. Michigan has also been a school that has kept close tabs on Latimer, with a coach making a home visit with the running back two weeks ago. Wisconsin football running backs coach Devon Spalding also recently made a home visit, which the recruit posted online.
