The top remaining Wisconsin football target in the 2026 recruiting class has revealed a commitment time scheduled just hours away.

Amari Latimer, a 2026 three-star running back from Sandy Creek, Georgia, announced on social media that he would commit to a collegiate program on Saturday night, June 28th. Latimer is widely considered to be one of the top remaining recruits in the entire class despite holding just a three-star rating. The running back currently has earned 48 scholarships and holds offers from nearly the entire SEC, which is an accomplishment that should speak for itself.

The Wisconsin football staff has been closely tied to the recruit since booking an official visit for the end of May. The running back had been closely tied to Michigan, Texas, Georgia, and Georgia Tech amongst other schools making the official visit a major win at the time. Now, Latimer could announce his commitment to the Badgers after spending time unofficially on campus with the staff and Badgers commitments.

With four-star Florida native Jayden Petit officially a member of the 2026 Wisconsin football recruiting class, Latimer is the next domino the staff has been pushing to have fall.

Latimer had been expected to make a commitment decision by the end of the month of June and said decision will now come just days after Petit joined the class. For the Wisconsin football staff, landing highly touted recruits from Florida and Georgia days apart would be beyond massive for the future of the program. Wisconsin has displayed a new aggressiveness while recruiting which can be seen in the commitment flip of former Ole Miss committee Zion Legree, a current member of the Badgers 2026 class.

Petit and Legree are both exceptional commitments, but the commitment of Latimer would mean something different to the program due to the storied history of running backs coming out of Madison. Latimer would be an excellent scheme fit and potentially someone who can continue to add to the history of the position in Wisconsin.
