WVU Baseball continued their wave of recent signings and commitments on Wednesday, bringing 11 more members of the class of 2025 officially into the fold.
Among the highlights include a West Virginia product (and another from 50 minutes north on I-79), two players from north of the border, a towering 6-foot-7 pitcher and two players with near perfect prospect rankings.
Weston Smith hails from the Mountain State and attended Hurricane High School. He signed as a right-handed pitcher but also holds experience in the outfield. Smith stands 6-foot-4 with a fastball in the high 80s to low nineties that tops out as high as 94 miles per hour, also mixing in a slider, curveball and changeup for the traditional starter’s repertoire.
Infielder Matthew Robaugh (Washington, Pa.) also grew up in the region, while right-handed pitcher Ben Goodacre and shortstop Tyrus Hall come from Ontario and British Columbia, respectively: Hall is a junior college signee currently in his sophomore year.
Right-handed pitcher Brayden Robinson already has a fastball that sits around 94 miles per hour and received a 7.5 prospect grade from Perfect Game, indicating a future draft pick with continued development. Left-handed pitcher Wyatt Mosley garnered a 9.5 grade, one of the best in the class, and with a strong senior season he could end up high on MLB draft boards, meaning the Mountaineers might need to outcompete serious money to bring him to Morgantown.
Infielder Sean Goldy stands 5-foot-9 and weighs 160 pounds but possesses a sneakily good bat, while David Perez plays shortstop and as a right-handed pitcher, receiving a flawless 10 grade from Perfect Game.
Rounding out the class are right-hander JT Huether (8 grade) who can play pretty much anywhere in the ballpark, 6-foot-7 right-hander Hudson Cavallo and lefty batting catcher Josiah Crider.
For a related story, Weston Mazey continued the Mazey family legacy by signing at WVU.
