Following a historic season, WVU baseball continues its momentum into the offseason securing a commitment from Kent State pitcher Jack Kartsonas.

Kartsonas is a right-handed pitcher from Pittsburgh, Pa.

“Proud to be committed to WVU baseball for my last year of eligibility,” Kartsonas wrote on X (Twitter).

Kartsonas pitched for the Golden Flashes in 2021, 2023-24, appearing in 35 games over the three seasons. The 6-foot-3 hurler threw for 42.1 innings this past season, posting a 5.95 ERA. Kartsonas struck 10 batters out against Central Michigan in six innings. In 2023, Kartsonas had a 2.20 ERA and 0.88 ERA in conference play.

Kartsonas will join the West Virginia program for his final season of eligibility under manager Steve Sabins, who takes over following Randy Mazey’s retirement.
