West Virginia is hoping an SEC transfer can find success with more of an opportunity in the Big 12 at WVU. Brenton Williams, a defensive lineman out of Auburn, announced an offer from the Mountaineers on Wednesday.

WVU’s offer to Williams comes about a week after he entered the transfer portal on April 16. He has four years of eligibility remaining.

Williams, a three-star recruit and a class 7A first-team all-state player in Alabama, redshirted the 2023 season with the Tigers. Williams played in only two games and did not record any statistics.

Despite being a local product for Auburn out of Opelika High School, Williams decided transferring is his best chance to actually get on the field.

Williams has also received offers from FAU and Liberty. West Virginia currently stands as his only offer from a major program.
