Blaine Stewart will be retained on the WVU football staff as the inside receivers coach, the program announced Tuesday afternoon.

Blaine Stewart is the second assistant coach to officially be retained under new head coach Rich Rodriguez as Chad Scott was officially announced as running backs coach earlier in the day.

“I’m glad to have Blaine as a member of our coaching staff,” Rodriguez said in a statement. “I had the privilege of working with his father, Bill, during my tenure here. I was able to watch Blaine grow up alongside my children. He is developing into a fine coach and recruiter and is an outstanding young man. He has a lot of the same qualities as his dad, and I look forward to his contributions to our program.”

Stewart has worked at WVU the past two seasons as a tight ends coach. Blaine’s father, Bill Stewart, worked under Rodriguez on his first WVU staff and then took over as head coach upon his exit to Michigan in 2007.

WVU football has made a number of staff moves in recent days in addition to Scott and Stewart. Zac Alley was officially hired as defensive coordinator earlier this week. William Green and Michael Nysewander both confirmed they will be following Rodriguez from Jacksonville State to WVU.
