'You’re going back down next year mate, enjoy it while you can' - Luke Littler banters Luke Humphries after Leeds United's promotion back to Premier League

Storied rivals on the board, Luke Littler and Luke Humphries are known to be good friends away from the oche. Following Leeds United's promotion back to the Premier League, this playful side of the star's relationship was on show again as Littler poked fun at Humphries.

A big Leeds United fan, Humphries previously revealed he was actually named after the club. “I was supposed to be called Liam but my dad saw someone else call their kid the same Luke. He gave me that name. What better thing but to be named after a football club,” the former world champion after taking the Sid Waddell Trophy to Elland Road in early 2024.

Over the last year or so, Humphries has even changed his walk on song to the Leeds United anthem - I Predict a Riot by the Kaizer Chiefs, further highlighting his love for this season's Championship champions.

Understandably then, Humphries has been revelling in his team's promotion from the Championship back into the Premier League for the 2025/26 season. “He’s been chuffed to bits with them coming back up," explains Littler in conversation with Manchester Evening News, although the current world champion was quick to try and put a dampener of Humphries' excitement. "I just said to him ‘you’re going back down next year mate, enjoy it while you can.'"

Littler, a well known Manchester United fan, was then asked how he thinks his own team will fare against their returning rivals. “Easy six points,” answers the 18-year-old cheekily.
