There are a whole lot of things that Zeb Powell does that few others can.
Most of those things take place on his snowboard. In fact, one of those things is his physical snowboard itself. No one is doing what he's doing on a 203 centimeter long board.
But one thing that might get overlooked is Powell's ability to bring snowboarding to a non-snowboarding audience. Whether it's simply by showing others that snowboarding is for everyone via social media, or his work with Burton Culture Shifters and Hoods To Woods, Powell makes snowboarding seem open to everybody.
This time, that everybody included five-time Pro Bowl NFL running back and Super Bowl Champion Marshawn Lynch.
Powell and Lynch spent a day snowboarding at Winter Park for the latest episode of 'N Yo' City. The show is from Prime Video and features Lynch traveling across the country, experiencing some of what the best cities have to offer. You can watch the entire episode below.
Lynch, who has engaged in a number of side quests since retiring from professional football that include broadcasting, acting, professional photography, and conducting the Houston Symphony, hopped in the Winter Park gondola, where he and Powell hit the terrain park. Burton outfitted him with his own custom "Beast Mode" Burton Custom, and Lynch pulled out his camera to get some photos of Powell during a jump session.
After that, the crew heads to the bunny slopes, magic carpet, and all. Beast Mode tries out riding for himself. Of course, he falls over and over again, but the highlight of the entire episode comes when Lynch is charging down the bunny slopes, straight toward a ski instructor and their student. Lynch nollies over the instructor's skis and lands on his feet unscathed.
"You feel me? That's peanuts to an elephant, my boy. That's small things to a giant," Lynch tells Powell afterward.
Fellow ThirtyTwo rider and North Carolina native Kaden Rusinko joined Powell and Lynch for the day on the hill, as well as his right-hand man, Alex Caccamo.
It all ended with a heartfelt moment, where Lynch and Powell talked candidly about race.
"The most impressive thing for me about him is that he like doing this and he like hella good at it," Lynch said.
"I mean, yo, being black as a snowboarder, I never even tripped over it. I just always went to the mountains with the homies," Powell responds.
"Well, you know it's bigger than that, though, right? Cause you're doing white people sh*t. You're doing it better than them, too," Lynch says.
