We are getting closer and closer to declaring a 2022 PGA Tour champion so of course there is more LIV Golf discussion in the news.
This time it was because the players reportedly had a closed-door meeting to discuss what is going on in the sport. Logistically it makes sense to do it right now, but also just reminds us where things are at in the sport. Then there was news of Patrick Reed's defamation lawsuit against Golf Channel. Who knew golf was going to get as interesting off the field as European soccer?
Back on the course, Will Zalatoris was the winner last week and is among the favorites again this week coming off that first-ever Tour win. Rory McIlroy is the favorite but the odds are pretty tight at the top of the odds board.
In general, this course is expected to play well for those that are best off the tee and on the approach. Code for putting might not be the skill that sets players apart this week.
Also, one name that is conspicuously absent is Cam Smith, who has pulled out due to injury.
(In case you forgot, this event determines the final field of 30 for the Championship next week)

Collin Morikawa +2000
Morikawa has enjoyed a very good season and finished 5th last week, so it is not like he is stumbling into this event. He has also been at this stage before, making it this far every season since 2019. If you are looking for someone just outside the top favorites he is a nice bet.
Jon Rahm Top 5 +230
Rahm placed 5th last week and the odds are suggesting that he is a pretty good bet to win it all. When he is playing well he is one of the most consistent players on the Tour. I like this derivative spot where he just has to play to form and not necessarily be the best.
Viktor Hovland Top 10 +270
After a couple of missed cuts, Hovland rebounded in a big way to finish 4th at the Open and then 20th last weekend. He is in the top 10 in the World Golf Rankings so asking him to finish in the Top 10 this week doesn't feel like much of a stretch. The key is that he is trending in the right direction.
Xander Schauffele +1800
He was not great last week but he has been one of the best on the Tour this season, including two wins in his last four starts. He has yet to win a major but a couple of second place finishes show us he is capable of playing well in big events.
Cam Young +2800
Young profiles very similarly to Schauffele, just without the wins. Instead, he has four second-place finishes this season, including in two different majors. He has yet to win on the Tour but that is definitely a when, not if, kind of thing.
