Keegan Bradley’s win at the Travelers Championship just made life a lot more complicated for the PGA of America.
Named as U.S. Ryder Cup captain at the start of the year, Bradley has since played his way into strong consideration for one of the PGA’s biggest events, and it’s becoming an increasingly awkward situation to navigate.

Some American players are already expected to tell Bradley they want him on the team, and now another claim has been made.
It’s about time the U.S. started to settle on their 12 to take on Europe. Now that Bradley has entered the top 10, has he cemented his place in the team? The answer is probably yes.
For the second edition in a row, Bradley will captain Team USA heading into one of the world’s most respected tournaments.
Brendon de Jonge shared his thoughts on SiriusXM Radio, predicting what the American team will do.
He said: “Say Keegan is number 9 or number 10 on that list. You’re going to have your guys who are locked in — Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele, Russell Henley will likely be another, and I believe Bryson DeChambeau will probably be there too. There’s no way those guys won’t let Keegan play.
“I get that being the captain is a big deal, but you’re still trying to put your 12 best players out there. A huge part of the captain’s job is all the lead-up work — logistics, managing the red tape. That will all be handled. There are enough vice-captains. And Keegan will still have a voice in the room.
“If he does play, it’s not like he’ll be in every single match. I just don’t see how the top players will let him not pick himself, considering how well he’s playing.”
One way or another, it seems likely Bradley will be on both sides of the ropes at the 2025 Ryder Cup. Being the USA captain and also the team’s tenth pick might not be traditional, but it’s starting to look realistic.
Bradley catapulted himself into the top 10 with his win at TPC River Highlands.
As of now, it looks like he’ll almost certainly play at Bethpage.
The top six players in the standings qualify automatically, leaving six spots for captain’s picks — which Bradley, as captain, controls.
The top six are locked in. But the rest of the 12-man team is wide open and likely to change before the end of the year.
With picks still to be made and plenty of golf left, is it time for Bradley to decide what’s best for himself before the Ryder Cup arrives?
