Is Greg Norman invited to the Masters this year?

When the 2022 Masters came around last year, the world of professional golf was rapidly being divided as familiar faces on the PGA Tour weighed the option to go play for LIV Golf . Greg Norman was at the forefront of the controversy, and his confrontational approach ultimately cost him an honorary invitation to the big event at Augusta National.

Fast forward to today, roughly one week before the 2023 Masters, and it is unusually quiet from the Shark's camp. It begs the question: Did Greg Norman get invited to attend the Masters this time around?

Norman made a pretty big deal last year about not receiving his usual invite to the Masters, detailing in an interview that "they did send me a grounds pass on the night before the first round," which he then declined to accept.

Since there is a handful of LIV Golfers competing in this year's event, one would think that Norman got his usual invitation and that he will show up as LIV Golf's figurehead. However, there have not been any reports indicating that Norman was either invited or that he plans on attending.

Remember, Norman has received honorary invitations in the past since he is a two-time major winner, and winning a major makes the Masters' crazy list of invite qualifications. Norman himself has actually never won the Masters, although his fourth-round meltdown against Nick Faldo in 1996 lives in golf lore.

It is certainly odd that Norman hasn't said yet whether he has been invited to the Masters or whether he plans to attend. It is possible that the answer will become more clear after the LIV Golf event this weekend in Orlando wraps up and the Masters becomes the only focus. Until then, we just have to wait and see what drama involving Norman will unfold ahead of the 2023 Masters, which tees off on April 6.
