In 2024, Anthony Kim made his great return to golf after a twelve-year hiatus from the sport. He made his return on LIV Golf and would continue his time with the league until this year, when he was relegated. Now with his LIV Golf membership behind him, Anthony Kim is looking forward to trying to make another comeback in the sport. Starting in the 2026 season.
Although Kim lost his LIV Golf membership, he is still playing in other leagues. Primarily, the Asian Tour’s International Series. He has been playing the series on the side throughout 2025, but he has yet to crack the top 25. When Anthony Kim was asked about his plans with his career, he revealed that he is just not ready to pack it in yet.
“I do not know how long I want to play golf for, but this is something I am committed to. I am motivated to play as good as I can. Work as hard as I can, and the results will speak for themselves. I am going to play some events. On the International Series and Asian Tour, but it is a long way over here. So, as much as I want to compete, you know, part of my comeback to golf is being with my family. And it is a lot of trouble for the family, so we will pick some events to play.”
As far as other paths forward, there are a few limitations for Kim. He, of course, won’t be able to return to the PGA Tour until at least 2027, at the time of writing. As for the league he is currently in, Kim will need to continue improving his game. There is another path for Kim, though, and it involves returning to LIV Golf.
Despite being relegated by the league, Anthony Kim can make a comeback to the league. The International series is backed by LIV Golf in a similar way that the Korn Ferry is backed by the PGA. Two competitors can earn membership with LIV Golf. It involves the two extra LIV membership cards that were announced with the format change to the league. There is also a second option to return to LIV Golf. In December, LIV Golf is holding the LIV Golf Promotions event. It’s not uncommon for golfers who lost their memberships to immediately try out for it again. That is part of Kim’s plan. Try out for another LIV Golf membership in December and do what he can during the tournament.
Kim has some big plans before the year ends. If he is dead set on returning to LIV Golf, he has some hoops to jump through. It is a tricky maneuver to do in December, but if he manages it, he will be back on LIV Golf. If Kim doesn’t manage to do it, he will need to stick to a smaller league until he can officially begin his comeback.
