One of the biggest honors of Arizona State Sun Devils golfer Jose Luis Ballester came on Thursday morning when he tee'd it up in the first round of the Masters Tournament, playing alongside 2024 Masters champion Scottie Scheffler and Justin Thomas.
A few hours later, though, Ballester saw a ton of backlash coming his way on social media for some of his actions during the round.
It came out in the afternoon that on the 13th hole during the first round, Ballester made his way to the famous Rae's Creek, and made a little pitstop. Fans reportedly saw Ballester urinating into the creed and mockingly applauded him when he was finished.
For a course as prestigious as Augusta National, there has been a ton of blowback on social media after this story got out, especially considering that there are a ton of bathrooms for players to use throughout the course.
What has made things worse is that Ballester appears to not grasp the ramifications of his decision, and said that he "would do it again" if he needed to.

Golf fans didn't take much of a liking to this response, and let him hear about it on social media.
What’s the max fine AGNC can levy on an amateur? Revoke his room at Crow’s Nest and make him stay in an Augusta Motel? https://t.co/MTkRgTLhuZ

Of course someone wearing a college hat with the upside down words trend pissed in a creek at Augusta. Real amateur move. https://t.co/XpJA2FE79h

Upside down script hat plus urination in the most-famous creek in golf is QUITE the combo.

While many golf fans were upset at Ballester's attire — the upside down script ASU hat — before the round started, they quickly got even more upset at his actions on the course.
The Sun Devil star ended up shooting a 4-over 76, and will need to do some work on Friday afternoon if he is going to make the cut and contend for the title of Low Amateur at the Masters.
