An Auburn golfer earned his PGA Tour Card on Memorial Day, helping to send the Tigers to the match-play quarterfinals at the NCAA Championship.

The Tiger's sophomore sensation Jackson Koivun finished two under par, earning his tour card via the PGA Tour University Accelerated Program.

In order for a collegiate golfer to obtain a tour card in this fashion, they must acquire 20 points by the end of their third year of NCAA eligibility. Points can be earned in several different ways, like winning a major college golf award or a tournament.

“I knew it was coming, but to get it done, I had to fight for it and play well today, and was able to do that. It feels awesome," said Koivun per Auburn Athletics.

Koivun plans on returning for his junior season, continuing his education and athletic development at Auburn. The PGA Tour will be waiting for him when he is ready.

“We’re excited he’s coming back to college," Auburn coach Nick Clinard said per Auburn Athletics.

Auburn was the only team to shoot below par in all four rounds. In addition, all five Tigers finished in the top 50 in stroke play. Sophomore Josiah Gilbert shot the lowest score for the team, finishing 18 holes four under par.

What we’ve done the rest of the year means nothing, but I’m really happy for the guys and proud of them. They work so hard and I’m glad to see them play well," Clinard said per Auburn Athletics.
