Bryson DeChambeau quietly put together one of the best final rounds at Royal Portrush, shooting a 64 on Sunday to finish tied for 10th at the 2025 Open Championship. After opening with a rough 78, DeChambeau bounced back with rounds of 65, 68, and 64, his second career top-10 finish at The Open. While Scottie Scheffler dominated the headlines, Bryson’s comeback caught plenty of attention, especially given his ongoing links golf struggles.
But the bigger news came off the course. U.S. Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley confirmed to Sports Illustrated. Bradley cleared that DeChambeau will be on the team at Bethpage Black this September, even if he doesn’t finish in the top six automatic qualifiers.
“Bryson is going to be a very important piece to us winning the Ryder Cup,” Bradley said via text. “He brings energy, passion, but most importantly, he’s one of the best players on the planet.”

Because DeChambeau plays in the LIV Golf League, he’s no longer able to earn Ryder Cup points. Still, he currently sits fifth in the standings, while PGA Tour players have four more events to earn points. That means Bryson could drop, but now we know he’s getting a captain’s pick regardless.
Bradley, who might also play and become the first U.S. playing captain since 1963, left notes and photos for potential Ryder Cup players at Portrush. One image showed Justin Leonard’s legendary 1999 putt at Brookline.
Bryson DeChambeau said he hopes to bring a "tsunami" of a crowd to Bethpage to cheer on Team USA at the Ryder Cup.

He also shared that Keegan Bradley left a message in players' lockers.

Though he hasn’t added a major this year, DeChambeau finished T5 at the Masters and runner-up at the PGA Championship. Add a LIV win in Korea and consistent top-10s, and it’s clear why Bradley is all-in on Bryson for Bethpage.
