The upcoming Sony Open in Hawaii set to begin on Thursday will be without a big name and one of golf's heaviest hitters.
On Monday, the PGA Tour confirmed Bryson DeChambeau won't participate in the tournament because of a sore wrist. Brett Falkoff, DeChambeau’s agent, explained the 28-year-old has been dealing with soreness in his left wrist and isn't able to play in back-to-back weeks.
According to Ryan Lavner of Golf Channel, DeChambeau likely won't compete again until the Saudi International, scheduled to take place from Feb. 3-6. He finished tied for 10th at the Sony in 2019.
As Joel Beall noted for Golf Digest, DeChambeau was able to play in all four rounds of the no-cut Sentry Tournament of Champions in Maui that ended on Sunday. He finished tied for 25th out of 38 players.
Before last week, DeChambeau's last official appearance for an event was at the Hero World Challenge in early December. Per Sky Sports, he finished 14th out of 20 players for that tournament.
Currently, DeChambeau sits eighth in the official world rankings.
