The North American T20 Cup 2025 continued with its 10th match, where the USA faced Canada at the Jimmy Powell Oval in George Town. Canada currently leads the points table with 8 points.
Canada scored a competitive total of 184 runs in 20 overs, losing only 7 wickets. Ali Nadeem opened Canada’s innings but got out early, scoring only 8 runs off 7 balls before being run out by Ali Sheikh. Captain Navneet Dhaliwal led the innings with an impressive 68 runs off 41 balls, smashing 3 fours and 5 sixes at a strike rate of 165.85.
This marked his eighth half-century in T20s, earning him the Player of the Match award for being the top scorer. He was supported by Yuvraj Samra and Shreyas Movva, who chipped in valuable contributions of 28 and 23 runs, respectively.
On the bowling side, Ali Sheikh and Bodugum Akhilesh had the most expensive economy rates in the match, giving away 10.50 and 10.00 per over respectively, and both failed to take any wickets in their spells. Yasir Mohammad was the only bowler who took multiple wickets, finishing with 3 for 39 in his four overs. Netravalkar and Jasdeep Singh picked up two and one wicket, respectively.
Conversely, the USA couldn’t reach the target and ended up with 167 runs in the 20 overs assigned to them, falling short by 17 runs. They got off to a quick start, scoring 59 runs in the powerplay. Contributions came from openers Saiteja Mukkamalla, who scored 11 runs, wicketkeeper Shayan Jahangir, who contributed 26 runs, and Monank Patel, who scored 15 runs before getting dismissed. Milind Kumar top-scored for the USA with 32 runs from 27 deliveries.
