Charlie Woods Gets Disappointing News On U.S. Open Qualifying

Charlie Woods, the son of 15-time major winner Tiger Woods, was hoping to participate in this year's U.S. Open at Oakmont Country Club.

Just a year ago, Charlie came up short in his attempt to qualify for the U.S. Open. He shot a 9-over-par 81 during a qualifying tournament at the Legacy Golf & Tennis Club in Port St. Lucie.

Unfortunately for the son of Tiger Woods, he'll have to wait at least one more year to make his U.S. Open debut.

Earlier this week, Charlie competed in a U.S. Open qualifier at Wellington National. He shot a 3-over-par 75. He ultimately needed to shoot a 68 in order ton advance to the final stage.

Although this will be viewed as a disappointment, golf fans should take note that Charlie's score drastically improved over the past year. If he takes a similar jump in 2026, he could very well qualify for the U.S. Open.

In the meantime, Charlie will have to work on his game behind the scenes. His father has already encouraged him to carve out his own path to greatness.

"Yes, he's my son. He's going to have my last name, and it's going to be part of his core. But I just want him to be just himself and be his own person. That's what we can only do," Tiger said. "I always encourage it, for him to carve his own name, carve his own path and have his own journey. I think he's doing a great job. In this day and age where everyone is basically media, with all the phones, being constantly filmed and constantly people watching, that's just part of his generation, and that's part of the world that he has to maneuver through."

Only time will tell if Charlie can truly follow in his father's footsteps.
