Collin Morikawa is reportedly making a surprising caddie change.
According to CBS Sports' Colt Knost, Morikawa will replace longtime caddie JJ Jakovac with Joe Greiner. Morikawa will begin working with Greiner at next week's Truist Championship in Philadelphia before the PGA Championship commences on May 15.
"When we first heard it, I was like, there's no way that this is true," Knost said Tuesday on SiriusXM PGA TOUR Radio. "This is a team that's won two major championships together, have had such a great run."
Jakovac has served as Morikawa's caddie ever since he turned pro in 2019. He won the PGA Championship in 2020 and Open Championship in 2021, but the 28-year-old is still seeking his third major.
Morikawa, who ranks fourth in the Official World Golf Rankings, tied for 14th at the Masters earlier this month. He tied for 54th at the RBC Heritage held at Harbour Town Golf Links from April 17-20.
Meanwhile, Greiner quickly found a new gig. He recently ended his working relationship with Max Homa after caddying the six-time PGA Tour winner for six years. The duo first met when Homa was six years old.
"Joe and I made memories for a lifetime and can't be more thankful for all the hard work. We have parted ways, and it will be sad to see him go," Homa told PGATour.com. "I'll always be grateful to have walked the fairways with one of my best friends."
Since the split, Greiner caddied for Justin Thomas at the Masters and during his RBC Heritage victory. It marked Thomas' first PGA Tour win in three years.
Greiner was a stand-in for Matt Minister, who was out with a back injury. Thomas confirmed after the victory that he'd returned to Minister when the caddie is ready, but he praised Greiner for his help at the South Carolina event.
"He was great," Thomas told Dan Rapaport. "He's such a good dude. He works hard. We had a lot of fun out there."
