Colt Knost predicts how Scottie Scheffler would respond to $500m LIV Golf approach

LIV Golf emerged in 2022, attracting some of the PGA Tour’s top players, but Scottie Scheffler has stayed put and is still out of reach for the Saudi-backed circuit – for now, at least.

Scheffler has remained loyal to the PGA Tour. And since 2024, he has completely dominated professional golf, with 13 victories and three major championships over an 18-month span.

At 29 years old, he is clearly the best player in the world right now. It’s a shame we only get to see him face off against LIV stars Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau at the majors.

DeChambeau was among the first to sign with LIV in June 2022, while Rahm followed suit later on towards the end of 2023.

Despite not winning an event in LIV this year, Rahm still took home more prize money than Scheffler did from his winnings on the PGA Tour over that same period.

Scheffler has not been shy about criticising LIV Golf in the past. But if a $500 million offer came his way, would it be enough to change his mind?

Scheffler took home six wins on the PGA Tour in 2025, two of which were major titles.

He is widely recognised as the best and most reliable player in the world right now, and there is not really anyone close to catching up.

The 29-year-old seems to be enjoying every bit of his life, both on and off the course. It is hard to imagine what might tempt him away from that.

But could an offer from LIV Golf worth $500 million be enough to change everything?

Speaking on the Trey Wingo Podcast, Colt Knost addressed that very question.

When asked why some players have chosen LIV over legacy, Knost pointed out that money was clearly a big factor. But he also made it clear that Scheffler is not the type to be influenced by a bigger pay cheque.

Knost said: “Scottie Scheffler. What are you going to offer him? You could offer him $500 million, he’d be like, ‘no I’m good. I like being in America, I like being able to get home to my family, I like playing in the tournaments I want to and competing against the best players in the world.“

The former PGA Tour pro makes a valid point. For someone in Scheffler’s position, another massive payday wouldn’t fundamentally change his situation – it would just add more zeroes.

Jon Rahm compared to the best despite Scottie Scheffler’s reign

Rahm has been a top-level player for a while, but not winning on LIV in 2025 would have frustrated him.

He will be looking to get back on track in 2026, with another major championship surely one of his main goals.

Knost went as far as to say that Rahm, when he’s at his best, is better than anyone else in the game.

“I honestly thought when he signed over there, I was like, ‘this guy is going to win most of the tournaments over there, he’s that good’.

“I’ve played with pretty much everybody in the modern game and he’s different. He’s so much better than everybody else, it’s a pleasure to watch him play golf.

“Going all year without winning over there was shocking to me.”

No one can question Rahm’s ability, but it is still tough to put him ahead of Scheffler or McIlroy given how many times those two have won recently.
