As he approaches his 41st birthday, 2020 Masters champion Dustin Johnson has reportedly figured out his retirement plans.
Speaking to the media ahead of Thursday's U.S. Open, the LIV Golf star talked about how much longer he envisions himself out on the course before he hangs up his clubs and enjoys life after the sport.
"I think I've got another six years in me," Johnson revealed, via the Associated Press. "I can grind for another six years. And then I'm going fishing."
DJ was among the first of the PGA Tour's big names to make the jump to the Saudi-backed LIV — signing a four-year contract worth upwards of $125 million back in 2022.
Since then his game has admittedly tapered off a bit. But Johnson says he's starting to find his way back to the dominant form he once enjoyed.
"I feel like my game's been really close," Johnson said after tying for 10th in last week's LIV event. "It was definitely nice to have a nice finish last week. I played good every day … You know, still kind of giving away some shots. I need to clean that up a little bit."
Johnson faced a ton of criticism for his decision to leave the Tour — which was almost exclusively financially-driven. And he's missed the cut in five of his last seven majors; something that would've been unimaginable at the peak of his career.
Maybe with some positive momentum going into Oakmont Country Club he'll be able to turn back the clock at this year's U.S. Open — a major he won back in 2016 by three strokes.
