ESPN NFL Reporter Adam Schefter Lands New Job Covering Golf

Adam Schefter is a household name when it comes to breaking NFL news. However, this week, he’s adding a surprising new gig to his resume—golf reporter.

Schefter will join PGA Tour Live on ESPN+ as a fairway-side reporter for Thursday’s Travelers Championship, covering none other than Rory McIlroy and Keegan Bradley

While he’s not ditching his NFL insider duties, Schefter told Pat McAfee this is a move he’s excited about. It's also a new gig that could signal more crossover opportunities in the future for the NFL reporter.

"I love what I do. I want to keep doing it. But I’ve done it for 35 years," Schefter said. "Every once in a while, it’s nice to mix it up."

His role will be less about deep golf analysis and more about observing, adding personality, and enjoying the game from a new angle.

He jokingly practiced his "golf voice" on air, whispering, "Let’s see how it’s done… Are we all ready for tomorrow? I think we are."

Schefter made it clear he’s not there to replace the pros—former PGA Tour winner Robert Damron will handle the expert commentary—but the longtime reporter is eager to bring a new energy to golf coverage.

"I'm just there to observe, have a little bit of fun. I love golf," he said.

Interestingly, his golf debut comes on the heels of reports that he’d been banned from The Pat McAfee Show, a claim seemingly squashed by his Wednesday appearance alongside McAfee to talk golf and share a few laughs.

Still, there's one looming question: what happens if Schefter gets a big NFL scoop while on the course?

He hasn’t answered that yet, but one thing's for sure—if there's a way to tweet any big breaking news between holes at his new gold gig, he'll find it.
