It's America's turn to host the Ryder Cup, which gets underway this weekend at the prestigious Bethpage Black Course on Long Island.
Upwards of 50,000 fans are expected daily to watch the United States attempt to regain its title from Europe, which won the biannual event in Italy in 2023. The last time the Ryder Cup was on American soil at Whistling Straits in Wisconsin four years ago, the U.S. was victorious.
It is expected that many of those tens of thousands of fans will be well-lubricated, but if they plan on drinking on the Bethpage grounds, they had better be prepared to pony up.
As is the norm at many prominent golf tournaments, beer prices at the 2025 Ryder Cup are notably high.
There are several different beers available at Bethpage this weekend, and none of them are particularly cheap.
The most expensive, according to Bro Bible, is a 19.2oz Wicked Weed Pernicious IPA, which checks in at $19. Lighter options aren't much of a relief, with a 25oz Michelob Ultra costing $18 and pints of Michelob Ultra and Bud Light selling for $15.
Sixteen ounces of Stella Artois or KONA Big Wave is going to run you $16. Meanwhile, a 12oz Michelob Ultra hard seltzer is $13, and mixed drink options run from $17.50 to $19.50.
If there is one way for patrons to save money this weekend, it's on food.
According to the official Ryder Cup website, all Ryder Cup+ Ticket holders "have the opportunity to participate in the Ryder Cup Food & Non-Alcoholic Beverage program to redeem for entrée, snacks, and non-alcoholic beverage items at all on-course concession markets."
Fans are allowed a free entree, snack and non-alcoholic drink every time they frequent a concession stand, with no limits on the amount of trips. That's right, food is free all weekend.
The selection is not shabby at all either, with items like sausage, egg, and cheese on a toasted biscuit and a chicken biscuit for breakfast, hot dogs, burgers, chicken sandwiches and sausages for lunch and snacks like chips, pretzels, cookies and Rice Krispies treats.
Gates open at 5 a.m. Friday, 5:30 a.m. Saturday and 7:30 a.m. Sunday.
