Former PGA Tour member contradicts Greg Norman's 'take the high road' comment

It doesn't look like Greg Norman's claim that he has, "taken the high road" in his ongoing standoff with the PGA Tour is sitting well with golfers both present and past.

Former PGA Tour golfer Curtis Strange, who has never shied away from speaking his mind, pointed the finger of blame at The Shark this week for creating unnecessary noise off of the links.

"Every week, I read another derogatory comment about quality people," the former Ryder Cup captain said in an interview with Golf Today, adding that Norman is a man without loyalty and distraction for players like Rory McIlroy and others battling to be the best golfers in the world.

"I hate to say this, but he's kind of a guy without a tour. He has no deep allegiance or respect for any tour. And he has shown that, and his true colors, in the last year or so."

Strange's comments come on the heels of Norman's latest jab at the PGA Tour, in which he claimed he "has taken the high road" all year and that he "pays zero attention" to players like McIlroy and Tiger Woods saying he needs to step down as CEO of LIV Golf.

While Strange has certainly been known to say some interesting things in the past -- his snarky 1996 interview with Woods will live on in golf infamy -- his recent comments about Norman are worth noting.

Norman certainly hasn't been the bigger person, even calling McIlroy and Woods "monopolists" who are "rearing their ugly heads" right before claiming he takes the high road. Whether you are a loyal PGA Tour follower or a new LIV Golf fan, there is no denying that Norman has been divisive throughout an entire year of turmoil.

What the future holds for Norman is still unclear. He has backing from some of his LIV Golf constituents even as PGA Tour members call for him to step down in order for the two leagues to get along. Whatever the outcome is, there's no doubting Norman will have something to say about it -- high road be damned.
