Golf best bets: 3 outright bets to target for the Genesis Scottish Open

The golf world heads across the pond this week for the Genesis Scottish Open at The Renaissance Club, and the best in the world are heading overseas to get some practice in ahead of next week's Open Championship. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is the betting favorite to win at +700 odds, while Rory McIlroy (+750), Patrick Cantlay (+1200), reigning champion Xander Schauffele (+1400), and Rickie Fowler (+1800) round out the top five on the odds board.

But we're looking past the favorites for our favorite outright bets this week. Here are the three outrights I'm targeting for the Genesis Scottish Open.

Tommy Fleetwood (+2200 BetMGM)

A victory is coming for Tommy Fleetwood soon, and I think there's a good chance it happens this week. The Englishman has recorded five top-20 finishes and three top-fives in his last seven starts, and he's gained more than two strokes off the tee in seven of his last eight. The Renaissance Club clearly fits Fleetwood's eye, too, as he finished T4 here last year and solo second in 2020.

Min Woo Lee (+3500 DraftKings)

Min Woo Lee won the Scottish Open in 2021 at the same venue, and he's playing exponentially better now than he was then. The Australian has notched three straight top-15 finishes, and he's gained more than 20 strokes putting over his last five starts. If the putter can stay hot and Lee can just be average with his irons this week, he'll be in contention come Sunday.

Adrian Meronk (+8000 BetRivers)

Adrian Meronk is third in the Race to Dubai standings behind only Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm, and he's one of just two players with multiple DP World Tour victories this season. The Polish bomber has gained strokes off the tee in seven straight starts dating back to his win at the DS Automobiles Italian Open in May. He also has four top-five finishes in his last six DP World Tour starts, so I'll ride the hot hand at a juicy price.
