Golf Fan Banned From The Masters In Heartbreaking Announcement

The Masters Tournament has apparently banned a golf fan from the Augusta National grounds after a stolen identity mishap.

In a lengthy social media thread posted to X, South Carolina native Josh Knauer shared that he won tickets to the 2025 Masters through the event's official lottery before receiving a curious message from the tournament last month letting him know they had been cancelled.

"It has come to our attention you listed your tickets for sale with a third-party," the email read. "Therefore be advised your tickets have been cancelled and your name has been removed from future consideration."

While working on his appeal, Knauer stumbled upon a fake Facebook profile pretending to be him — which he alerted the Masters about. And he even sent back the tickets he purchased from them as proof of his identity (and innocence).

Knauer has reportedly yet to hear back from Augusta, however, and he's looking for anyone that could help.

"At this point I clearly am not attending the Masters as originally planned. Which is devastating, but a reality," he shared. "I am focused on trying to resolve the misunderstanding and prove my innocence so I can hopefully attend at some point in the future."

"Here's my plea for help," Knauer added. "If anyone sees this and can help put my appeal letter in the right hands — I would love to have the conversation. I'm an open book. I have nothing to hide and just want the opportunity to prove innocence in a giant misunderstanding."

Hopefully Knauer gets the closure he's looking for and the tournament is able to right this wrong for him. Since making his original post on Monday, its racked up over 1.5K reposts and 22K likes.
