The world of professional golf has not been the same over the past few years since the LIV Golf Tour broke up the PGA and split many of the top names into different leagues, but there is hope on the horizon that these guys will all be playing together once again in the future.
One of the top names who decided to take a massive paycheck, rumored in excess of $100 million, was Brooks Koepka, a five-time major championship winner. While he has been making money away from the PGA Tour, there's always been a thought that he might have an urge to leave LIV and come back to the PGA.
This past week, golf legend Fred Couples said that these aren't just rumors, but something that he has talked to Koepka about recently.
“I talked to Brooks Koepka all the time. I love Brooks Koepka, and I'm not going to say anything extra except I talk to him all the time," Couples said on KJR 93.3 FM. “He wants to come back. I will say that I believe he really wants to come back and play the Tour."
While LIV players are able to qualify for major championships, like The Masters, the U.S. Open, and the Open Championship, they are unable to participate in beloved PGA events like the Players Championship, the Genesis Open, and the Waste Management Phoenix Open.
These are places where Koepka has excelled at before, and reportedly would like to get back to.
There have been ongoing negotiations between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf for the past couple of years while the two sides try to reach an agreement, and it seems that a partnership is not too far off, now with President Donald Trump getting involved and working to find a solution.
If that solution ever does come, Koepka would reportedly be happy to return to his old tour once again.
