At a press conference in Los Angeles on April 15, 2026, Hannah Green revealed the “good luck charm” behind her success in the city.
Green won the JM Eagle LA Championship back-to-back in 2023 and 2024 at Wilshire Country Club. She also became the first player to win multiple times at Wilshire.
“My host dad from Wilshire, Tom, will come out and watch me. He’s kind of been my good luck charm. He’ll be out, so I’m excited to see him. Yeah, I just feel like the crowds are really welcoming to me being an Australian,” Green said.
Due to ongoing renovations, the championship shifted from Wilshire Country Club to El Caballero Country Club in 2025. However, Green’s lucky charm from Wilshire will still be present at the new venue.
“Yes, I used to stay with him when we played at Wilshire, and he lived right around the corner, so it was really nice to have him. And his wife Carrie was able to celebrate with him. You can hear him loud and clear, that’s for sure,” Green said.
Green has also won big outside Los Angeles, including the HSBC Women’s World Championship and both the Women’s Australian Open and Australian WPGA Championship.
Green has always felt comfortable at Wilshire Country Club. Her 2023 win brought an end to a winless drought of about four years.
She hit an incredible birdie putt on the 72nd hole to force a three-way playoff against Aditi Ashok and Xiyu Lin. She won the playoff with a par on the second hole, bringing an end to her drought, she was visibly emotional.
“It’s been a long few years. I was playing well last year, but getting across the line’s been really difficult. I’m proud of myself. I’m really happy,” Green said.
Her 2024 victory cemented her legacy at the venue before the tournament shifted to El Caballero. She finished at 12-under 272 to beat Maja Stark by three shots.
That comfort showed again in 2026. With her host family in the gallery, Green won at 17-under, beating Sei Young Kim and Jin Hee Im in a playoff for her third win in four years.
