Happy Gilmore 2 leans into the nostalgia, packed with callbacks that longtime fans will pick up on straight away.

Collin Morikawa is one of several PGA Tour stars, both past and present, who make appearances in the latest Happy Gilmore film. The world number six finds himself thrown through a table alongside Xander Schauffele.

The original film only featured Lee Trevino and Mark Lye from the golf world. This time around, though, the sequel didn’t hold back on bringing in some of the sport’s top names.

John Daly stands out in his role, while Scottie Scheffler continues to impress by showing there’s little he can’t do. On the other hand, Rory McIlroy – despite his Holywood roots – doesn’t look set for a long stint in front of the camera once he steps away from golf.

How far Morikawa hit the ball using the Happy Gilmore swing

With Happy Gilmore 2 now out, it’s easy to imagine a lot of weekend golfers giving the famous swing a go, even though it’s not exactly how you’d want to teach kids to play.

And it isn’t just the amateurs who can’t resist. TGL shared a clip of Collin Morikawa trying out the move inside the SoFi Center.

Morikawa sent his shot 267 yards through the air, and after rolling out, it totalled 289 yards.

How Collin Morikawa’s distance this season compares to his Happy Gilmore swing

Morikawa isn’t known for his power off the tee. While he ranks 11th in strokes gained off the tee, he sits 146th in driving distance for the 2025 season.

He’s averaging 295.9 yards per drive this year, so his Happy Gilmore swing wasn’t far off his usual numbers.

Morikawa’s year has been a frustrating one. Early second-place finishes at The Sentry and Arnold Palmer Invitational suggested a win might be close, but that breakthrough still hasn’t come.

His major season ended on a low note with a missed cut at The Open Championship, capping off what’s been a forgettable stretch.

The offseason could bring changes. Morikawa might look to add more distance to his game as he prepares for next year.
