An interesting story involving Jim Nantz, world No. 1 golfer Scottie Scheffler and a 2012 GMC Yukon XL SUV is going viral during Masters week.

Speaking to Marty Smith ahead of the famed Augusta National tournament, Scheffler recalled how he ended up selling a vehicle to Nantz — and it started with his dad.

"We came to the Masters in 2012. … My dad came for most of the week, and he had a car that had 140,000 [miles]," Scheffler began. "It broke down here in Augusta. He was like, 'Well, I could get a car and rent it and return it and rent the car in Augusta.' It turned out to be a mess. He was like, 'Alright, I'm going to have to get a new car. Might as well get the car here and drive it back.'"

"He found a dealership here and got the car, and used it the rest of the week, and drove it home. It was with my dad for a few years, and I ended up taking it when I was in college, probably four or five years later. It's got a lot of miles on it. My dad can put some miles on a truck. We decided to put it up for auction, and Mr. Nantz took it home."

Nantz purchased the vehicle for $50,000 despite the high mileage, but it was more about the story behind it.

Scheffler had donated the Yukon to benefit Triumph Over Kid Cancer (TOKC) in honor of one of his late friends, James Ragan — someone Nantz got to know in an interview a couple years prior.

"Had he been healthy, he could've done anything," Nantz said, via Golfweek. "He had this ability to communicate. And he did do great things. He laid the groundwork for this fundraising and awareness. It was his brainchild. He worried about everyone else."

The GMC still reportedly has a place in Nantz's Pebble Beach garage. Where he's joked, "I figure just driving this SUV to the golf course should lower my handicap by at least five shots."
