Jon Rahm is the early favorite to win the PGA Championship

The 2023 Masters is barely in the rearview mirror, but the golf world already has its sights set on the next big major event after a rain-soaked weekend at Augusta National.

So even though the PGA Tour's best -- well, at least most of them, anyway -- will compete at the RBC Heritage in South Carolina this weekend, the countdown has already started for the PGA Championship in May.

And if you watched the final round of the Masters on Sunday, you have a pretty good idea who the big sportsbooks have tapped as the early favorite to win the next major event.

DraftKings has Jon Rahm, fresh off of his Masters victory, listed as the 15/2 favorite roughly a month ahead of the PGA Championship. 2022 Masters winner Scottie Scheffler is listed next at 9-1 and Rory McIlroy rounds out the top three at 10-1 odds despite missing the cut in two of his last three events. Reigning PGA Championship winner Justin Thomas, who also missed the cut at Augusta, is listed at 14-1.

Of course, another major means another opportunity to see the PGA pros mix in with qualifying players from the LIV Golf circuit. Brooks Koepka, who led for a stretch at the Masters before finishing T2, is listed at 20-1 in the PGA Championship field. Cameron Smith is the next LIV Golfer listed at 22-1. Phil Mickelson, who surprised at the Masters this weekend and tied with Koepka, is a whopping 130-1 long shot.

The PGA Championship will tee off at Oak Hill on May 18. Before then, fans have more PGA action to watch including the RBC Heritage, which tees off this Thursday.
