Jon Rahm rips fan after bad drive at Open Championship

Jon Rahm is known for wearing his emotions on his sleeve when things are not going well for him on the golf course, and we saw another example of that during the first round of the 2025 Open Championship on Thursday.

Rahm hit his drive way right on the 11th tee at Royal Portrush Golf Club in Northern Ireland. Immediately after he finished his swing, Rahm threw his hands in the air and began scolding someone in the gallery.

Rahm suggested that a spectator had whistled in his backswing.

“Really, whistling? Way to go. Right on my backswing. Very smart, whoever it was,” Rahm said.

The alleged whistle could not be heard on the broadcast, but there was obviously some sort of noise that distracted Rahm. Either that, or he simply hit a bad shot and needed someone to blame.

Rahm, a two-time major champion, often loses his cool during tournaments. He even snapped a club in the middle of a round at the Masters earlier this year.
