Jordan Spieth Makes Bold Claim About His Game Despite What the Scorecards Show

Despite the uneven scorecards through two rounds, Jordan Spieth believes the numbers don’t tell the whole story at The PLAYERS Championship.

During a press conference on Friday at THE PLAYERS Championship, Spieth said that the scores do not reflect how he believes he has played through the first two rounds.

“But it’s been better than my scoring. I toed a drive on 18 yesterday and then on one of the easiest holes I made a 7 today, and it’s just a bit of a bummer to finish that way, right? They don’t tell the story of how I’m really playing; they were just two swings that I just needed to miss on the other side.”

The 32-year-old opened with a 1-over 73 in the first round after closing with a double bogey on his final hole. He followed that with a 4-under 68 on Friday, a round that included seven birdies and a stretch of five in a row from the 16th through the 2nd hole.

Jordan Spieth is tied for 23rd at 3-under after two rounds at the 2026 THE PLAYERS Championship, placing him nine shots behind leader Ludvig Åberg (-12) and seven shots behind Xander Schauffele (-10).

During the press conference, Spieth said his recent form has improved.
