Jordan Spieth endured one of the most underwhelming seasons of his career on the PGA Tour in 2025.

If Spieth is to return to his former glories, he has to make a big change ahead of the 2026 PGA Tour season.

It has already been suggested that Spieth should go down the route of appointing a new coach, in order to freshen things up ahead of the new season.

The man from Dallas, Texas, really struggled throughout the 2025 season, and he is still without a win since April 2022.

He recorded only four top-10 finishes in 19 events this year and every time he even got close to contending, some of his old bad habits came back to haunt him, mostly when he had his putter in hand.

However, Spieth has always been an exceptionally hard worker, and he will be desperate to turn things around in 2026.

Spieth needs to improve significantly

Spieth didn’t exactly hit rock bottom this year. He managed several solid results but never looked like a serious threat at any point during the season.

If there’s any comfort for him right now it’s that golf can turn around quickly. Sometimes all it takes is one good week for momentum to shift.

Spieth knows as well as anyone that just one strong finish could kickstart a comeback.

Spieth could be facing a first in his PGA Tour career

Even though he finished 54th in the FedEx Cup standings last season, his place on tour is not at risk. The question now is what steps he takes to get back on track.

The focus for Spieth should be on whatever path gives him the best chance to turn things around quickly. There’s one move he hasn’t tried before that might be worth considering.

He’s played individual events during the autumn stretch in previous years but has never committed to all four.

This year brings another layer of complexity. In July, Spieth and his wife Annie welcomed their third child. The demands of life with a young family make a month-long stretch away from home more challenging than ever.

Balancing family life with the demands of the tour isn’t easy, especially with a new addition at home. How much time he spends playing this autumn will likely come down to what works best for his family as much as what’s right for his game.

Spieth faces a tough decision when it comes to his work-life balance

If he’s fully committed to getting back to his best, and there’s nothing wrong if he isn’t, then this autumn needs to be about putting in the work.

He should use this stretch to put in the hours and build confidence by playing in events where the competition isn’t as stiff. The autumn schedule gives him a good chance to do exactly that.

Between 23 October and late November, Spieth could enter the Bank of Utah Championship, World Wide Technology Championship in Mexico, Butterfield Bermuda Championship, and RSM Classic in Sea Island, Georgia.

Committing to all four events would mean a lot of time on the road. That’s not easy with three young kids at home.
