During the Travelers Championship, Jordan Spieth was struggling.  During the event, he was seen visibly uncomfortable with his neck as he made his way through the first twelve holes.  At one point, he even needed to get on-site treatment before finally ending his 297 consecutive start streak with his first withdrawal.  Now, Jordan Spieth has announced that the injury is fully healed and he can get back on the field!

Jordan Spieth’s Injury

Since having to pull out of the Travelers Championship, Spieth has confirmed what the exact injury was.  According to Spieth, it was “just a weird neck spasm thing”.  He then detailed that he knew it would be temporary; the main issue was that it just hit him during a match.  It was bad enough that he had to physically stop and give himself some quick breaks while rubbing the back of his neck.  At one point, he had to be treated by a physiotherapist at the course.  Eventually, he had to call it in as the pain was just too much to bear for an entire day.  An entire weekend of going through that could have put too much strain on the golfer and could have sent him to the hospital.  He wasn’t alone that day, Viktor Hovland went through a similar issue on the final day of the tournament.

Now that his neck is no longer having these spasms, he can get back to playing his sport.  Unfortunately, he won’t be at the Scottish Open.  He has made the decision not to participate in the event to avoid any resurgence of the spasms.  Spieth has confirmed that he will be heading to the British Open next week.

Spieth Heading To The Open

Although the ship has sailed for the Scottish Open, it hasn’t for the British Open.  Being the final major of the year it would be a great welcome back game for the former champion of the major.  In an interview on the Up and Adams Show, Spieth confirmed this.  He also confirmed that he may be a little late due to some things needed before his third baby arrives.

“Getting ready for The Open Championship next week,” Spieth told Kay Adams on the show,  “but I have no restrictions.  I’ll be at The Open Championship, I’ll be a little bit of a late arrival… just trying to get all the work in before the baby comes, and then I’ll get overseas.”

A silver lining for the professional golfer after dealing with his injury.  He can look forward to being a father of three in the near future.

Off To The Last Major

With Jordan Spieth’s injury dealt with, and work based around the baby that’s on the way, fans can look forward to seeing him back on the field after a brief absence.  Spieth can also get back to defending his position in the OWGR and the US Ryder Cup.  Now the only question is what can everyone expect from the British Open next week?  It is still anyone’s guess, but now the field is taking shape for the major, with Spieth there.
