Joseph LaMagna doesn’t hold back on Collin Morikawa’s range struggles at The Open

Collin Morikawa’s 2025 PGA Tour season has been a real struggle.

Since finishing just short at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in March, Morikawa has managed only two top-10 finishes on the PGA Tour.

His form has slipped so much that he’s now in danger of missing out on the Ryder Cup team, which really says it all about where his game is right now.

The 28-year-old looks completely lost with his game overall, and ongoing struggles with his putting continue to hold him back from building any momentum.

Morikawa’s efforts in preparing for The Open deserve praise, but they didn’t pay off, as he missed the cut at Royal Portrush last month.

Since then, many fans are wondering what comes next for the six-time PGA Tour winner.

Right now, the Los Angeles native is a shadow of the player he once was. He’s putting in the work to turn things around, but nothing seems to be clicking.

Golf analyst Joseph LaMagna spotted something worrying about Morikawa while he was on the range at Portrush.

Speaking on The Fried Egg Podcast, LaMagna said: “His Open Championship record is kind of ridiculous now. Win, missed cut, missed cut, T-16, missed cut. It’s kind of crazy.

“I will say one of the biggest scenes I will remember from this season is watching him struggle on the range at Royal Portrush after his first round,” LaMagna continued.

“It is one of the biggest struggle sessions I have seen from a professional golfer. Collin looks like he’s not in a good spot right now.”

While there are still parts of Morikawa’s game that look sharp this year, it’s hard to overlook how much he’s regressed in other areas.

The 28-year-old was once considered one of the best iron players in the world, but those days feel like a distant memory now.
